Traditional Resian House

remained available in the Giulie Alps

Discover serenity in the peaceful embrace of this mountain village, where nature reveals its finest treasures

Experience the captivating charm of the Julian Alps within a Traditional Resian House. Indulge in mountain serenity and discover the enchanting landscapes of woods, meadows, rivers, and cascading waterfalls...

Built shortly after the year 1600, carved into the rock to gain more space for the interior. It was part of a longer complex now divided into several sections among the descendants of the original families.

The 1976 earthquake destroyed much of the valley's architectural heritage where houses were rebuilt following the guidelines of modern architecture. Fortunately, Stolvizza, Coritis and Uccea were spared and this house was only intervened by strengthening the structure with anti-seismic criteria and it was only partially modernized.

This house follows the traditional Resian structure, has a relatively simple, rectangular plan and two rooms per floor, a structure composed of large stone walls.

The house

Various paths start from the town which lead to the Ta Lipa Pot waterfall, the Resia river and meadows and woods. By taking the car you can reach the upper part of the valley, Malga Coot with a typical restaurant, from which more challenging paths also depart towards the top of Cima Canin (2,587 m). Going down you reach Resiutta and Val Fella with the AlpeAdria cycle path that connects Salzburg to Grado. Half an hour's drive away is the mountain city of Tarvisio, the beautiful Alpine lakes of glacial origin of Fusine, the Catholic sanctuary of Monte Lussari, the tourist resort of Sella Nevea and the border with Austria and Slovenia.

Experience Nature: Resia torrent

From the head of the valley, just below Casera Coot, to the lap - just a little quieter - of the great Fella river: twenty kilometers of fast runs, foamy jumps and flights from cheerful waterfalls. A thousand air bubbles captured with each spray and carried into the swirl of clear blue pools. A little quiet, among the white stones. Then off again, running! Never too much in the sun: it warms and steals the sparkle of the crystal, which is the result of the cold. Precious and pure water, cold, fast and well oxygenated. The Resia stream. In such pure waters the noblest fish of the eastern Alpine streams find hospitality: the beautiful trout, the grayling and the small, fragile bullhead. On the riverbed and all around gravel and gravel, boulders and pebbles, in large quantities. Almost all white. The stream accompanies the rocks in their unstoppable race towards the sea.

Walks for the whole family: the TA LIPA POT trail

Once you arrive in Stolvizza, a beautiful wooden plaque engraved with "Ta Lipa Pot", which means "the beautiful path", indicates the beginning of this easy circular path suitable for adults and children.

And this is just one of the paths in the valley!

The B-24J accident in Resia Valley

Dedicated to Lt. Solomon's aircrew

The B-24J 42-51778 was a bomber aircraft used by the Allies in World War II. During a night mission, after a long silent flight, it crashed into a rock face in Mount Canin, Resia Valley, falling down the valley and causing a fire followed by numerous explosions. The Casera Canin refuge, not far away, heard the roar. The oldest was 29. Sadly, none of them survived the accident.

Painted in Blood

a novel by the italian writer

Ilaria Tuti

Celebrated as 'The Sleeping Nymph,' this mesmerizing masterpiece was crafted by a young freedom fighter amidst the tumultuous finale of World War II. Its arresting beauty conceals a chilling enigma, whispered to be encoded within the crimson hues painted from a heart's blood.

Yet, whose heart bled for this canvas?

No body surfaces, no confession echoes—a mere trace of blood hauntingly etched into the painting. This eerie anomaly captivates Commissioner Teresa Battaglia, herself a guardian of a silenced truth, propelling her toward the secluded Resia Valley in northeastern Italy. Here lies a pristine genetic sanctuary, shielded from the outside world across centuries.

The valley and the enigmatic portrait stand as lone witnesses to a murder seven decades past. A crimson ribbon tying together an unsettling mystery, drawing shadows cast by one fervently safeguarding a sacred secret.
